Guy Gansert Confirms That He Will Not Be The Golden Bachelor (Meet His New Girlfriend)

The Golden Bachelorette's Guy Gansert was a fan favorite to be The Golden Bachelor, but he just confirmed it's not going to happen. The 61-year-old ER doctor retired recently, and he has turned his focus to his personal life. Guy was one of the 24 single Golden men who dated Joan Vassos, 62, during the inaugural season of The Bachelor spin-off. Joan liked Guy, and he even made it to her final two. Though the two had chemistry, she decided to give her final rose to Chock Chapple, 61, instead.

What Happened To Guy Gansert After The Golden Bachelorette Season 1?

After being eliminated from The Golden Bachelorette season 1, there were a lot of expectations that Guy would be cast as The Golden Bachelor. The first season of the unscripted dating show, starring 72-year-old Gerry Turner, was a huge hit for the franchise. With the second season around the corner, Guy was one of the front-runners expected to replace Gerry. Despite high hopes for the highly eligible bachelor, Guy recently made an announcement about his personal life that took him out of the running. Read on to find out why Guy can't be The Golden Bachelor.

Guy Couldn't Win Joan Vassos' Final Rose

Her Heart Belonged To Someone Else.

After a season of romantic dates, Joan narrowed her field down to Guy and Chock. During the final episode of The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Joan and her two suitors traveled to Tahiti. The plan was for Joan to introduce both men to her family, but it didn't work out that way for Guy. Joan introduced her family to Chock, and it went well. When it came time for Guy to meet her family, he was beyond excited, but when he arrived at Joan's room, her family wasn't there.

Joan sat Guy down in Tahiti and told him that her heart belonged to someone else. Guy was devastated by the news. He dissolved into tears as he held Joan one last time. He even asked her if there was any chance he could change her mind, to which she replied by simply shaking her head. Joan obviously didn't want to hurt Guy, but when she accepted the role of The Golden Bachlorette, she knew she'd have to hurt people. Joan was, however, able to stick to her rule of not telling more than one person she loved them.

As The Golden Bachelorette season 1 was airing, news broke of a serious scandal that involved Guy. People reported that Guy's ex-wife, Heidi O’Gara, filed a temporary protective order in October 2021. Heidi dropped the order a month later, but some of her accusations were disturbing. Heidi accused Guy of having anger issues, and engaging in threatening behavior. Though Guy's contentious relationship with his ex-wife made him look bad, he was still in the running to be The Golden Bachelor. To my utter disappointment, Guy recently took himself out of the running for the next franchise lead.

Guy's No Longer On The Market

"I HAVE FOUND MY PERSON

Guy may have been on the short list for The Golden Bachelor season 2, but he recently blew up any hope with a single Instagram post. He recently posted a photo of him and his new girlfriend, smiling and posing together in front of a giant heart. He tagged his new girlfriend as Johanna Boston. Guy's caption reads, "I HAVE FOUND MY PERSON."

Now that Guy is out of the picture, the short list of potential Golden leads gets even shorter. 58-year-old Mark Anderson from The Golden Bachelorette season 1 was a fan favorite, but is currently in a committed relationship. 61-year-old Jonathan Roan was also considered to be an option for the next franchise lead, but he recently got out of a serious relationship. 62-year-old Gary Livingson was recently announced as a contestant on Bachelor In Paradise season 10, so he can't be the lead. At this point, there are no front-runners to be The Golden Bachelor.

What Else Is Guy Up To?

He Addressed The Golden Bachelorette Bromances

Guy recently announced his retirement as an ER doctor, but he'll be playing a doctor on television. The Golden Bachelorette season 1 contestant exclusively told People that he'd be making a guest appearance as a doctor on the soap opera General HospitalDuring the interview, Guy also talked about the friendships he formed with the other men on The Golden Bachelorette. “The relationships between the men definitely created bromances,” Guy said. "Everyone only wants each other to succeed. At our golden years, we only want each other to be happy."
