The Philadelphia Eagles are going to need to replace Bryce Huff and Josh Sweat's production, but according to star left tackle Jordan Mailata, they may have their answer.
Mailata spoke to reporters during the first day of training camp on Wednesday, July 24, and had nothing but extremely high praise for second-year edge rusher Jalyx Hunt.
"Oh man, he’s going to be special, man," Mailata said. "His burst. He has tendencies like Micah [Parsons], just to be able to cut on a dime like that… How did I go from Josh Sweat to Jalyx? It's crazy! I'm like, 'Howie, give me a break for one year, Jesus!' Jalyx is going to be a star.”
That is one heck of a compliment coming from Mailata, who has gotten a taste of the best, including Parsons.

Jalyx Hunt's Impact was Felt in Year 1, Now It's Time for a Breakout Year
Hunt appeared in all 16 regular-season games last fall, recording 21 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, one pass deflection, and two forced fumbles. He also made an impact during the Eagles' playoff run, including a sack in the divisional round.
Parsons is a different animal. He wrapped up his first NFL season in 2021 with an unbelievable 84 total tackles, including 64 solo, three forced fumbles, and 12 sacks. Parsons, who was named Defensive Rookie of the Year, earned his first Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro nod.
He then racked up 65 total tackles, including 42 solo, 13.5 sacks, three passes defended, and three forced fumbles in Year 2. Once again, earned Pro-Bowl and All-Pro honors. Parsons has now earned four straight Pro Bowl nods and three All-Pro nods since he entered the league just five years ago.
That's a high bar to reach, but if Mailata sees even a glimpse of Parsons in Hunt, it's a very promising sign for the future of Philly’s defense.
