How Barkley’s Viral ‘Spin Hurdle’ Will Live Forever

A move that seemed like it could only exist in a video game is officially part of the game.

EA Sports announced Wednesday that Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s jaw-dropping "spin hurdle" has been added to Madden NFL 25 in its latest update, immortalizing one of the most creative plays in recent NFL history.

How Barkley’s Viral ‘Spin Hurdle’ Will Live Forever

The electrifying moment occurred during the Eagles’ 28-23 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 3. After catching a pass in the flat from quarterback Jalen Hurts, Barkley broke a tackle, spun away from another defender, and leapt backward over Jaguars defensive back Jarrian Jones—a play that instantly went viral across social media.

“What really happened was, I was going to hit a double spin,” Barkley explained to Whistle Sports. “When I spun, I went to spin again, and I just… it’s probably going to take away from how cool the play is… I thought he was going low, so I thought it would be cool if I could jump up… my body kind of took over.”

The signature move will be exclusive to Barkley in the game. According to EA Sports, players can execute the "spin hurdle" by perfectly timing the hurdle button against a defender approaching from a 45-degree angle to the ball carrier.

Barkley’s incredible play capped off a standout performance in which he rushed for 159 yards on 27 carries, caught three passes for 40 yards, and scored both a rushing and receiving touchdown. His efforts helped secure the Eagles’ win and continued a stellar season that has him leading the league with 197 carries and ranking second in rushing yards (1,137). Entering Week 12, Barkley has recorded eight rushing touchdowns and two receiving scores.

Madden NFL 25 launched in August 2024, and this update ensures Barkley’s viral moment will be remembered by gamers and fans alike as one of the most unique and awe-inspiring plays in recent memory.
