How Much Time Will Jonathan Kuminga Miss For Warriors?

Saturday night was a tale of both the good and the bad for the Golden State Warriors. The good was that Golden State won their second game in a row after a solid 121-113 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. The bad was that Jonathan Kuminga did not see this game through to the end.

The fourth-year pro finished the matchup with 13 points before exiting the contest. Kuminga was off to a strong start that was ultimately cut short.

Despite the win, and what should have been a celebratory mood, the first questions that Warriors head coach Steve Kerr fielded at the post-game press conference were about Kuminga. Kerr was open with sharing an injury update.

"It's a sprained ankle," the Warriors coach told reporters. "It's not gonna be a day-to-day thing. It was a significant sprain. So, you know, we'll just have a report tomorrow once we get a better feel for it."

Kerr's statement indicates that this will not be a short-term injury for Kuminga. The Warriors forward will likely miss a considerable stretch of games as a result.

An injury at any point is an unfortunate event, but this really could not have been a worse time for Kuminga and the Warriors for a multitude of reasons.

For starters, the Warriors young star has had a strong run of games lately. In his last 14 contests, Kuminga is averaging 20.5 points per game, while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Golden State is also at a pivotal moment in their season where they are looking to regain momentum after tumbling down the Western Conference standings.

Lastly, there is also the matter of Kuminga being a hot trade commodity for the Warriors' pursuit of a star. The opportunity to increase his trade value has been lessened for Golden State.

Any further updates on Kuminga's health will be made available as they come in.
