How Rising Red Sox Prospect Fared In Triple-A Debut

And the 22-year-old infielder kept it going at the plate in his debut with Worcester on Tuesday night.

Jordan, who got the start at third base, went 1-for-4 in Worcester’s 6-5 win in 10 innings at Polar Park, but his lone hit was impressive. Jordan laced a double 110 mph off the bat in the bottom of the third inning off Rochester Red Wings pitcher Cade Cavalli.

You can watch the extra-base hit from Jordan, who also walked in the contest, here:

Jordan starred in 44 games with Portland this season by slashing .320/.415/.513 with a .928 OPS to go along with six home runs and 37 RBIs. He also walked 22 times, which was more than he walked all of last season, and went 15-for-30 in his last nine games.

“It was my approach to the plate, just trying to draw more walks and getting the right pitch to the hit, and hitting the ball in the air, because as a corner infielder, that’s kind of your job, you know?” Jordan told MassLive’s Katie Morrison-O’Day. “They want you to hit home runs.”

Jordan was known for his power when the Red Sox selected him in the third round of the 2020 MLB Draft out of DeSoto Central High School. He’ll have a chance to showcase it along with his revised plate approach now with Worcester.

And while he was surpassed by other elite prospects in the minor leagues, Jordan is starting to look like the prospect the Red Sox envisioned when he entered their farm system.
