A new mode added to The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered called No Return puts you in a series of rogue-like survival missions, which you can tackle with characters you unlock from previous runs. Every run in TLOU 2 Remastered's No Return has permadeath, which means your character loses all their weapons, items, and upgrades accumulated from different mission scenarios. While you do get to choose the encounters you engage with, some characters might be better for specific challenge types. For example, Dina has stun bomb recipes at the start of the run and can be great in Capture or Holdout situations.

You can unlock eight playable heroes in TLOU 2 Remastered, but each has prerequisites you must fulfill. The strongest playable characters in No Return depend on their starting skills, but you can make any hero better by grabbing different gear throughout a run. Keep in mind that different challenge types will have different loot based on the enemies and environments.
There are four challenge types in No Return: Assault , Capture , Holdout , and Hunted . While Assault and Hunted have you survive against many enemies, Capture and Holdout have tactical objectives you must complete.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has included a lot in the No Return mode and added back many familiar areas for players to explore as well.
