Howie Roseman just reminded the Cowboys why they are nowhere near the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles proved they were the best team in the league last season, dominating their way to a Super Bowl victory, and they’re ready to do it again in the upcoming season. Philly has retained most of its core, added new talented players, and continued to show why they are the best organization in the league from top to bottom.

Howie Roseman's Journey to Becoming the Best Exec in the NFL

On Wednesday, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman detailed a philosophy that helped him build such an elite team. Roseman was asked why it’s important for him to extend players early, and the general manager expressed how that’s a big part of building the right culture. He explained that people understand when they start with the Eagles, they’ll have an opportunity to continue with Philly and get rewarded. Roseman said that sends a message to young players that if you arrive and do everything right on and off the field, you will be taken care off.

The philosophy was summed up as draft, develop, and sign. A sensible approach that seems obvious.

Eagles explain the importance of extending players early

While the approach seems like an obvious one to take, not all teams do. That’s why Roseman’s response was immediately viewed as a subtle dig at the Dallas Cowboys, even if unintended. Roseman explained that the Eagles can only do what works for them, and everyone has their own ways of going about things, but people couldn’t help but point out the difference between Philly’s approach, and what Dallas is currently going through.

The Cowboys are currently dominating the headlines for their refusal to extend Micah Parsons by now. Not only has Dallas not given one of the best players in the league a long-term contract, team owner Jerry Jones has essentially been antagonizing Parsons, and other team leaders, in the media for no reason. The bizarre situation has led to a clear divide in the franchise, as Parsons and cornerback Trevon Diggs recently had a joint media session where they made a clear distinction between the players and the front office.

Meanwhile in Philadelphia, everyone is paid and happy, and of course, Champions. Based on the recent comments to the media from both teams, it’s clear why the difference is so drastic.
