'I expect him to take another leap' - Renowned coach sends message about crucial Cowboys player everyone is forgetting about

Everyone is aware Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyler Guyton will largely determine how the offense does in 2025. But the focus set around the second-year player is causing people to forget about a fellow lineman the team needs to bounce back, as well.

'I expect him to take another leap' - Renowned coach sends message about crucial Cowboys player everyone is forgetting about

Right tackle Terence Steele, who has had back-to-back down years following a late-season ACL tear in 2022. Since he signed a $87 million deal in 2023, his pass protection hasn't been the same. It's no coincidence the best it's looked was in late 2024, when Cooper Rush recorded one of the fastest time to throw averages in the league.

If the Cowboys—who paired CeeDee Lamb with George Pickens earlier in the offseason—hope to have one of the best passing offenses in the NFL, they'll need Steele to bounce back strong in 2024. According to renowned private OL coach Duke Manyweather, he will.

Manyweather calls for Terence Steele to bounce back from consecutive down seasons

Manyweather has established himself as one of the best OL minds in the world, training multiple NFL starters in the offseason and holding an annual summit for linemen where the best players in the league gather to discuss their position.

"Worth noting, I think Terence Steele had a really great offseason this year," Manyweather told reporters via The Athletic's Jon Machota. "A couple years ago he was an elite run blocker, [last year] he got back to that, struggled a bit in pass protection with what he was doing with his hands and what he was asked to do."

However, Guyton expects the new Cowboys coaching staff to fit Steele better. Dallas brought in former Arizona Cardinals OL coach Klayton Adams as offensive coordinator and hired Conor Riley as the new position coach.

"I think with coach Conor Riley, with (assistant OL coach Ramon Chinyoung Sr.), and Klayton Adams are going to ask him to do and ask him to be is going to be more of himself," Manyweather added. "I think that will play into his favor."

As for the entire Cowboys OL, Manyweather's expectations are high: "This is the deepest and most talent-rich in terms of quality of depth that I've seen the Cowboys have in a long time in the offensive line room."
