By this point, it's been made abundantly clear that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is not only one of the best games of 2025 so far, but also potentially one of the best games … ever. The game quickly became one of the highest-rated games by users on Metacritic of all-time, besting the likes of Baldur's Gate 3 and The Witcher 3's well-received DLC expansions.
And if it weren't for the Switch 2 edition of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom being as good as it is, it'd likely still have the top spot for 2025s highest-rated game with more than half the year complete. If all of that wasn't enough praise, then Neil Druckmann of The Last of Us fame has decided to heap some more on it.
Game Recognizes Game, Or Something Like That
Druckmann, who recently announced that he would be departing the production of Season 3 of The Last of Us on HBO in order to focus on Naughty Dog's current projects, including Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, took to Instagram to share that he managed to beat Expedition 33, writing, "I’m in awe. One of the most moving, creative stories (I've) played in a long time."
That is some pretty high praise, especially coming from the person that's been responsible for some of the most moving pieces of games media of this generation. It goes to further reinforce what a truly tremendous job Sandfall Interactive did in creating Expedition 33.
Perhaps Drukmann will take some of that inspiration and put it towards a potential The Last of Us Part 3. That has to be in the works, right? Right? Here's hoping.
