Golden State Warriors forward and veteran Draymond Green has been quoted multiple times as being apologetic and sorry for the punching incident he had involving former Warriors teammate Jordan Poole. However, while Green himself already expressed the desire to have the issue laid to rest, others have a more aggressive alternative for him to “end” the matter.
In one of the recent episodes of the Gil’s Arena podcast, Arenas shared his honest take on what he thought would finally put the never-ending drama around the old incident between the two to rest. Apparently, it has nothing to do about being sorry but rather, throwing punches once more.
“Draymond, if you want (Poole) to stop,” Arenas said, “all you have to do is just say, ‘If that motherf***er keeps saying this and bringing this s**t up, I’ma punch his a** again.’ That’ll stop him. He already know what the first hit felt like, he don’t want another one.”
“You know what I mean? He keep bringing it up, I’m gonna hit him again, I was sorry before, I won’t be sorry next time.”
The comment from Arenas came in light of Green’s recent statement about the topic. While the Warriors forward remained apologetic, his recent statement showed his desire for the matter to be put to rest.
“I responded because, you know, it’s been [around] three years,” Green said in one of the recent episodes of his podcast. “Like, let’s move on, you know? We’ve moved on — like, supposed to move on, man. I really am sorry. [Poole’s] statement was kind of like it was looking for some sympathy and kind of keep wanting to make me out to be the bad guy.”
“Move on, bro. Like, it is what it is. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have punched him. But, you know, it happened. Let’s move on, man.”
This was all in light of Jordan Poole’s recent comment after a face-off of the Washington Wizards, where he plays now, against the Warriors, his former team, and where Green still plays. Following the game, Poole was quoted giving words of respect and admiration towards his former team, but highlighting how he admires and respects “most” of the people from the Warriors, which people took as a shade towards Green.
Draymond Green: Still Out, But Recovering
Draymond Green is still out due to an injury but is progressing with his recovery. In the past week, Green sustained a left calf injury that led to him leaving the game only a few minutes in.
Draymond Green is now starting with light on-court work and will soon rejoin his team in practice as he slowly gets himself ready to join the Warriors in future games.
