Injury-riddled Lions sign Myles Adams off Seahawks practice squad

The injury-riddled Detroit Lions signed Adams off of the Seahawks practice squad on Saturday. Players cannot be poached from one practice squad to land on another, so Adams will be on Detroit’s active roster for the foreseeable future.

To rewind a bit: Seattle waived Myles Adams from the active roster after claiming former Los Angeles Chargers safety A.J. Finley. After Adams cleared waivers, Seattle signed him to the practice squad on Thursday and released defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna. This move was generally under the radar because it was on Thanksgiving, but it happened.

While the Lions are 11-1 with a 10-game winning streak, they’re running out of healthy players on defense. Since Aidan Hutchinson’s leg break in October, Detroit has had even more injuries to one of the league’s best defense. Linebacker Alex Anzalone is out for a few more weeks with a forearm fracture, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez tore his ACL and is done for the year, defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo is out for the rest of the season with his own knee injury, and fellow defensive linemen Levi Onwuzurike and Josh Paschal are not likely to play next Thursday against the Green Bay Packers.

All of the injuries have prompted Detroit to sign three practice squad players from other teams, including Adams, LB Kwon Alexander (Denver Broncos), and DL Jonah Williams (Los Angeles Rams).

Adams has been with Seattle in some capacity since 2020, often alternating between the active roster and practice squad. In 26 career games he’s recorded 30 tackles, 3 quarterback hits, 1 pass defensed, and 1 sack. Given the injury situation, there’s a chance that Adams will get significant playing time next week.

With Adams off the practice squad, the Seahawks have a vacant spot.
