George Kittle and Fred Warner won’t practice on Tuesday
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan explained why the team did not open up rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall’s practice window on Wednesday in a way that only he could.
“I just don’t feel like he’s ready to this week,” Shanahan said:
“I don’t really watch the guys rehab and stuff. I just get reports on it and talk to the guys. I know he’s really close. When he’s good to go, himself and the medical staff, we’ll be pumped to have him back. Ricky’s a hell of a player.”
Shanahan said that Pearsall’s shoulder was fine before he got hurt. Shanahan does not have an update on Christian McCaffrey after being asked if McCaffrey was doing any drills on the side during his rehab. He said, “I really don’t go through his rehab with all the guys on IR, which is why I don’t have an update on Christian every day. That’s why, when guys are on IR, I focus more on what we’re doing that week and that day. I know he’s rehabbing.”
The following players will not practice on Wednesday:
LB Fred Warner (ankle)
TE George Kittle (ribs)
WR Jacob Cowing (shoulder)
WR Chris Conley (obliques)
DL Yetur Gross-Matos (knee)
LB Dee Winters (ankle)
Shanahan said, “Nothing’s changed from what I reported on Monday with the guys.” So, the players above are all day-to-day. Warner said his play is to play on Sunday. It wouldn’t seem right if No. 54 were sidelined. He’s rarely appeared on the injury report and only missed one game due to injury in his career.
The following players will be limited:
FB Kyle Juszczyk (shoulder)
DL Jordan Elliott (knee)
S Talanoa Hufanga (ankle)
DL Kevin Given (tricep)
LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (calf)
