Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is getting closer to a return. NFL insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported there is a legitimate chance for Love to play as soon as the Packers’ Week 4 clash at home versus the Minnesota Vikings.
“My sense is that Jordan Love has a very, very real shot to play this week,” said Rapoport on Wednesday.
Rapoport, however, stopped short of saying that Love is definitely going to play against the Vikings, as there are still several days left to evaluate his status before Sunday’s game.
“Not saying it’s definitely gonna happen. He’s got to get through the week. He’s got to get through unscathed. He’s got to go through a full week of practice and we will see if maybe on Friday he has a full participant. Often that has been the way you could tell if a guy who’s coming back from injury is really going to play. Is he a full participant? If he is then you say you know what he can do everything he can go. You talk about that timeline. You’re right about three weeks was probably the best-case scenario for Jordan Love. Right at Sunday’s game it is going to be three weeks. That does not mean that he’s fully healthy. He’s probably only going to be fully healthy weeks five or maybe six.”
Even if Love gets ultimately ruled out for the showdown against Minnesota, the Packers have shown that they can win with backup Malik Willis under center. The Vikings should be a tougher matchup for the Packers than the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans were, but Willis is now more confident and so are his teammates in after winning two games in a row with him starting for Green Bay.
