Are the Chicago Cubs done adding? That seems to be what the front office is pondering, as there are still a few areas the Cubs could improve this spring.
With spring training now here, the Cubs are still in the mix for a starter, something the front office has been interested in adding over the past few months.
One name that continues to pop up is right-hander Dylan Cease, who MLB insiders of The Athletic predicted is the most likely player to be moved during spring training.
"It isn't often that the same player wins the Most Likely to Get Traded balloting two years in a row. But that's how valuable - and available - Cease has been through each of the past two offseasons.
"And why wouldn't he be? He's still just 29, and eminently affordable (set to earn $13.75 million this year). Plus, you know how many pitchers in this sport have struck out more hitters than Cease over the past four seasons (891)? That would be zero," Jayson Stark wrote.
If the San Diego Padres are open for business, the Cubs could make another splash in the rotation and sign one of the better starters in Major League Baseball.
Cease isn't a perfect arm, but when he's at his best, there aren't many better in Major League Baseball.
