Is drafting Sam LaPorta at his current ADP a risk worth taking?

Laporta is the guy that I think we saw him take a bit of a step back last year, and part of it was injuries early in the season.

Part of it is also that when James Williams comes on, now you have another most definite offense, and you know, tight ends, it's very, very difficult for them to be able to put up these huge seasons when they're not one of the top two target getters in the offense.

And shout out to Andrew Cooper, Coupe Fiasco, Fantasy Alarm.

He does a great job with his tight end analysis.

He pointed out something last year, two years ago, and it's fairly obvious, but again, unless you are one of the top two target getters in your offense, the odds of a tight end finishing as a top 10, top 12 guy are very, very slim.

And a couple of years ago, every single guy that was in that top 12 was the #1 or #2 target in their offense.

So I think Laporta, very, very talented, and I think around the league, there are a lot of tight ends that are very talented, and if they were in the right scenario, if they were the #1 guy in the offense or like the de facto #1 receiver or even the de facto #2 receiver, I think they could put up big fantasy stats, and I look at Laporta like that, but in the range that he goes in now, I'm just not targeting him.

I'd much rather have George Kittle, who I think has a shot to, you know, be that number one guy in the 49ers offense with some of the changes that they've had there.

Um, and I think in that range, you might as well just wait because there's so many tight ends that kind of profile similarly to Laporta fantasy-wise as you go down the list.

Um, so I don't think he is somebody that people should necessarily be targeting where he's going.

I think his ADP needs to drop a little bit as well.
