J.J. McCarthy gets honest about Sam Darnold performance in Week 3

As Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings jumped out to a 21-0 lead over the Houston Texans on Sunday, J.J. McCarthy shared his feelings about the action inside U.S. Bank Stadium with a simple post on his personal X account.

The Vikings rookie quarterback clearly enjoyed watching Darnold put together another solid performance in his third game with the franchise. With three touchdown passes in the first three quarters of the matchup, Darnold certainly gave McCarthy and Minnesota's fan base plenty to cheer about on Sunday.

J.J. McCarthy liked what he saw from Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings against the Houston Texans

Unfortunately for McCarthy, he still has to watch the Vikings games from his own home, as his surgically-repaired knee hasn't recovered enough for doctors to allow him to be on the sidelines. But that definitely hasn't stopped Minnesota's young quarterback from sharing his excitement online about Darnold and the other members of the team's locker room.

Darnold has always been viewed as the Vikings' placeholder under center until McCarthy is ready to take over as the team's starting quarterback in 2025. But the impressive start to the 2024 campaign has caused some to think that he could possibly remain Minnesota's starting signal-caller for another season if things continue to go well.

Whatever ends up happening during the rest of the year for the Vikings, it's safe to say that McCarthy is still going to be rooting on his teammates from inside and outside of the locker room.
