Jahan Dotson trade reactions: “The Eagles now have the best WR trio in the NFL”

The Eagles lost two wide receivers to concussions last week against the Patriots — Johnny Wilson during joint practice, and John Ross during the preseason game — and it became increasingly obvious that the WR3 spot still wasn’t completely addressed. So, Howie Roseman does what he does best, and was able to bring in some depth via inter-division trade with the Commanders for Jahan Dotson.

It was a no-brainer for Roseman, who is acutely tuned in to potential additions, and was able to get a first-round player with two years left on his rookie deal. Plus, the Eagles now have a very solid WR3 option, and Dotson played with Saquon Barkley at Penn State and will assuredly get his friend up to speed in Philly.

As much as it was a no-brainer for Philly, Washington’s decision to make the trade to an NFC East rival — regardless of reported tensions between Dotson and the new team management — was a bit surprising. They handed the Eagles a starting lineup of skill players that includes A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dotson, Saquon Barkley, and Dallas Goedert. Great for Eagles fans, not so much for Commanders fans.

A few of Dotson’s new teammates reacted to the trade online, along with other players throughout the league and analysts.
