The lull of the offseason sometimes has fans starving for football content, and with just a month or so before training camp, that's exactly what the Detroit Lions' top stars are giving us.
Recently, running back Jahmyr Gibbs revealed a bet that has been ongoing between he and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Well, it's not entirely a bet as it is a deal St. Brown made with the star running back.
If Gibbs ends a season having gone over 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards apiece, then St. Brown will buy him quite the prize.
“It’s still a goal. I asked him about it again. He’s gonna get me a house," Gibbs told Lions beat reporter Eric Woodyard.
Let's get real about how incredible this feat would be for Gibbs. In case you didn't already know, only three running backs have ever gone over 1,000 rushing and receiving yards in the same season, with the most recent being Christian McCaffrey back in 2019 when he did this with the Carolina Panthers.

So, more than just earning himself a new house, Gibbs would see his name etched in the NFL history books with such a performance.
In order for Gibbs to accomplish the rare feat, he'll have to do it while sharing the load with David Montgomery, of course, who is also an integral part of this offense.
But, knowing that Gibbs may not even have hit his ceiling yet in the NFL, it can be done.
Now, if we're trying to simplify this a bit more, let's put it this way: Last season, Gibbs totaled 1,929 scrimmage yards. In order to top 2,000, he needed just 71 yards in addition. However, of those scrimmage yards, over 1,400 of them came on the ground while 517 came by way of the passing game.
Gibbs is electric in space, as we know, so if the Lions can figure out a way to get him even more involved in the passing game, it could very well pay off. Thinking about a season where Gibbs ends with even more than last season's 20 total touchdowns, he just might land himself in the MVP discussion.
