The Cincinnati Bengals might not make the playoffs this season.
That doesn’t make much sense if you look at their offensive numbers.
Joe Burrow currently leads the league in passing yards (3,706), touchdown passes (33), and passing yards per game (285.1).
The Bengals’ offense ranks No. 6 in points scored and No. 9 in total yards.
That’s why Ja’Marr Chase still has a chance to make history this season, as bad as their record is.
As NFL on CBS on X pointed out, the LSU product is currently on pace to win the league’s receiving Triple Crown.
Through the first 13 games of the season, Chase currently ranks first in receiving yards (1,319), receptions (93), and receiving touchdowns (15).
He would become the first Triple Crown winner since Cooper Kupp did it in 2021.
That bodes very well for his impending contract negotiations.
Chase and the Bengals failed to get a deal done in the offseason, but he has put on a show in every game instead of holding out or not showing up to play.
He’s made a case for being the best wide receiver in the league, even ahead of Justin Jefferson.
Now, he’ll look to be financially compensated as such.
Unfortunately, his video game-like numbers haven’t always translated into wins, which speaks volumes about this team’s defensive miscues this season.
