Bella Ramsey and James Norton have been cast in coming-of-age dramedy Sunny Dancer alongside a stacked cast.
Directed by George Jaques, the movie focuses on a group of characters at a summer camp for young people affected by cancer.
The Last of Us star plays Ivy, a girl who's in remission and is very skeptical about 'Chemo Camp'. There, she'll have to rethink her prejudices as she makes new connections, with summer camp becoming one of the defining experiences of her life.
Hailed as a "deeply personal, coming-of-age, comedy romance," the movie also features Neil Patrick Harris as well as Baby Reindeer's Jessica Gunning, former Bridgerton star Ruby Stokes and Enola Holmes' Louis Partridge.
"I'm beyond excited to have such insanely talented people on board — absolute masters of their craft — coming together to create a movie that's equal parts hilarious and gut-punching," Jaques said (via Variety).
"I want the audience to laugh till they cry, then actually cry, and walk away with a fresh perspective on how the young, in fighting for life, are seen — not as victims, but as bold, complex, and full of life."
Sunny Dancer is set to begin filming in April and is expected to hit cinemas next year.
Meanwhile, Ramsey will return in the role of Ellie in season 2 of post-apocalyptic drama The Last of Us, releasing in April.
The new chapter sees the addition of Abby, the other main playable character from the game the show is adapted from. Played by Kaitlyn Dever, Abby is part of a different faction of survivors and is therefore seen as a villain by Ellie.
Responding to fans pointing out that Dever has a different body type compared to the game version of Abby, who appears very muscular, The Last of Us showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin reflected on why the change makes sense for the show.
"[Abby being muscular] doesn't play as big of a role in this version of the story because there's not as much violent action moment to moment. It's more about the drama," Druckmann told Entertainment Weekly.
Mazin added: "I personally think that there is an amazing opportunity here to delve into someone who is perhaps physically more vulnerable than the Abby in the game, but whose spirit is stronger."
