The Lions managed to put the clamps on Caleb Williams and the Bears even as several players went in and out of the lineup with myriad injuries on the day.

The Lions are now alone on top of the NFC North, the division they won last season, with both the Vikings and Packers within shouting distance and big games coming up against the Packers and Bills.

Following the game, Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams decided to stand in front of the team and apologize for gently tossing the football into the face of a player on the Bears' sideline, which drew a penalty flag.

Detroit Lions captain Jared Goff reacted with a seven-word message for one of his favorite targets in offensive coordinator Ben Johnson's passing game.

According to Detroit Lions reporter Eric Woodyard of ESPN, Goff had praise for the way Williams handled the situation.

"He's right where he needs to be," Goff said of Williams, who registered 18 yards rushing and 28 yards receiving on five catches Thursday.

The Lions will welcome the Packers to town for another big game next Thursday night at 8:15 p.m. ET with Detroit holding a two-game edge on their rivals from the Badger State.
