Jauan Jennings thrown out of 49ers-Cardinals for unsportsmanlike conduct

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings fell short of his first 1,000-yard receiving season in a dramatic turn of events against the Arizona Cardinals. Jennings pleaded his case to officials and was seen on the sideline explaining the situation to head coach Kyle Shanahan after being penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct twice—on back-to-back plays.

The penalties stemmed from extracurricular activity involving Jennings and Cardinals defenders. The second saw the 49ers receiver getting physical with Cardinals cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting.

Both players were ejected with 6:26 remaining in the first half.

Jennings wrapped up the game with seven catches for 52 yards on 10 targets, finishing the season with 975 receiving yards—just shy of the coveted 1,000-yard milestone.

Jennings' absence adds to the 49ers' challenges, as the team was already without wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who is inactive due to rib and wrist injuries.
