Jaylen Waddle creates a 4×100 meter relay team of Dolphins players

The Miami Dolphins are widely regarded as the fastest team in the NFL. Speedy stars like Tyreek Hill and De’Von Achane headline a Dolphins offense that is built for one purpose only — be faster than the other team. Jaylen Waddle recently joked about creating the ultimate 4×100 meter relay team consisting of Dolphins players.

Waddle discussed the matter on The OG’s Podcast W/ Udonis Haslem & Mike Miller. Towards the end of the episode, Waddle shared his answer for making the best possible track team out of Dolphins players.

“I think I have a better start than all of them, I think I’m going to start it off, I’ve got a better start then them,” Waddle said. “So me to Heem (Raheem Morris) 2nd leg straight away, I’m going to Reek (Tyreek Hill) at 3 and then I think (De’Von) Achane is going to bring it home.”

These are some solid choices. Waddle isn’t being speculative about his teammates’ abilities to run track either.

Both De’Von Achane (Texas A&M) and Tyreek Hill (Oklahoma State) ran track in college. Waddle himself was a high school track star as well.

Head coach Mike McDaniel has purposely built the Dolphins offense to be as fast as possible.

“We like the fast guys, but it starts as football players,” McDaniel said during the draft. “Our starting point isn’t speed, but covering space in a limited amount of time – how fast you play on the football field. When the opportunity presents itself and Chris Grier asks if you want to trade for Tyreek Hill, you do that. You draft players because they’re football players. And if they’re fast, that’s cool.”

Here are the fastest 40-yard dash times recorded for each of the player Waddle pegged for his fictional track team.

  • Jaylen Waddle – 4.37 seconds (School)
  • Tyreek Hill – 4.29 seconds (Pro Day)
  • Raheem Mostert – 4.34 seconds (Combine)
  • De’Von Achane – 4.32 seconds (Combine)

Raheem Mostert honest on Dolphins’ “biggest Kryptonite” heading into 2024

The Dolphins may be fast, but they are far from unbeatable.

Raheem Mostert recently spoke with NFL Network insiders Ian Rapaport and Tom Pelissero on The Insiders program. Mostert claims that the Dolphins need to play better at the end of the season.

“We’re an outstanding team, and it has to just click at the end of the year,” Mostert said, “I was telling the reporters, man, I’d take an 0-8 start to make it deep into the playoffs, right, and trying to get to that championship round. One of our biggest Kryptonites has always been that first round. That’s gonna be harped on this year. People are gonna say all these different types of things, but we can’t make excuses.”

Mostert’s comment seem to be a reaction to getting bounced in the Wild Card round of the playoffs last season.

“We’ve got to go out here and finish the season and finish strong, the same way we started, and just go out here and handle business,” Mostert continued. “Everybody has to be on the same page. We have to be as one, right? That’s all it takes. Nothing bigger, nothing smaller. Just go out there and stay healthy and finish.”

Hopefully the Dolphins take Mostert’s message to heart and can finish strong in the 2024 season. Their hopes of a deep playoff run may depend on it.
