Jerry Jones is confident the Dallas Cowboys can win the NFC East in 2025. While speaking to reporters after Day 2 of the NFL Draft last month, Jones was asked about getting the Cowboys back to being a contender after their division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, won the Super Bowl last year.
“We won the division the year before, so we beat them,” Jones said. “I expected to beat them when we started off this year and didn’t expect them to be the champions. I happen to know where we fell short. To their credit, they fell short in the middle of the year, and boy, to their credit, they got back straight. They got going and they are world champions.
“But I know this, 12 months ago, 13 months ago, we’re sitting here winning the division and the head-to-head plan. …I don’t look at a far-apart action with Philadelphia, and I have probably as much respect for them as a team as anybody in the NFL. Injuries hurt us a bit last year.”

Jones also said that “a couple of rookie offensive linemen” didn’t live up to expectations in 2024. He then added, “I’ve got all the reasons why that we weren’t having the season that we were having. Consequently, I see us getting better from where we were as we went into that season.”
Jones then pointed to head coach Brian Schottenheimer and said he likes him and the fact that he’s familiar with the players on the roster since he was the team’s offensive coordinator last year. He then mentioned that the Cowboys need to get healthier and hopes quarterback Dak Prescott “will have better health this year.”
The Cowboys finished the 2024 season with a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Jones’ comments came before the team traded for wide receiver George Pickens. With the return of Prescott, the addition of Pickens and the drafting of Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker, the Cowboys are looking to not only win the NFC East but make a run at the Super Bowl.
