Weeks ahead of The Valley's premiere, Brittany announced that she and Jax were separating. Their fellow cast member, Jesse, spoke candidly about this separation during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday, May 21. It was at the Clubhouse where he shared his take on the relationship — and it might come as a surprise.
Jesse Lally said that "the writing was on the wall" for Jax and Brittany
This season of The Valley has captured so many ups and downs for the couples on the show — including Jesse, who announced in March that he and his wife, Michelle Saniei Lally, were also separating. Jesse told Andy Cohen that watching this season back has been hard, especially since he has experienced Jax and Brittany's struggles in his own relationship.
"It's difficult because I know what they're going through. I went through it a year before that," he said. "And the writing was on the wall."
But, he still has faith that they will sort through their issues and get back together. "Hopefully, they work it out," he said. "I love them and they're doing an amazing job right now, the two of them....I hope everyone works it out. Seriously."
Jesse Lally's confrontation with Jax Taylor about his marriage
During a fishing trip to Big Bear Lake during The Valley Season 1 Episode 10, Jesse lent his opinion on why Jax acts a certain way towards Brittany. "I think you're a fighter. I think you've always been fighting," Jesse said to Jax. "I think you've been fighting to prove yourself for a long time, and you don't need to prove yourself to your wife."
Jax admitted that he was to blame at times for the difficulties in his relationship with Brittany. "Do I tend to get aggressive at times? Yeah of course," he said in reply. "It's just me [and] who I am. But I reel it in; I'm very aware of what I'm doing; I'm very aware of how I deliver things."
During a confessional, Jesse noted that Jax seemed like he was in a place of denial. "You better read the signs," Jesse said, addressing Jax. "Make the changes I made too late."
