Another losing Jets season will come to an end with their Week 18 game against the Dolphins and one defensive starter has already turned his attention to March.
Cornerback D.J. Reed is in the final year of the three-year contract he signed with the Jets as a free agent and he did not sound like a player who is itching to sign another one after the team’s 40-14 loss to the Bills in Week 17.
“I’m ready to go to free agency, bro,” Reed said, via Tyler Dunne of Go Long. “I’m ready to see what’s next for me.”
Reed’s cornerback partner Sauce Gardner said after the Bills loss that “some people might be checked out” in the final days of a disappointing season. Gardner didn’t name any names and interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich disputed that observation, but comments like Reed’s suggest there might be something to Gardner’s view of what it’s like inside the Jets’ locker room right now.
