Jets' Garrett Wilson 'loves' facing another top CB in Broncos' Pat Surtain II

It’s been a slow start to the 2024 season for New York Jets (3-0) wide receiver Garrett Wilson but he’s up for the challenge.

To start the year, Wilson has had some tough opposition lining up across from him. That’s set to continue against the Jets’ upcoming opponent in the Denver Broncos (1-2).

Wilson will likely see plenty of Pat Surtain II across from him.

Surtain, 24, signed a massive contract extension this offseason: A four-year, $96 million deal. That made him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history.

Wilson is going to have to face that obstacle, but he’s ready to.

“I love it,” Wilson sad.

And that confidence is found in New York’s quarterback, too.

“He’s got to be patient, we’ve got to be patient, we can’t force it. Pat [Surtain II]’s a phenomenal player, but you know, Garrett is too, so it’s going to be a good matchup with those two guys,” Aaron Rodgers said this week. “A lot of respect for Pat.”

So far on the year, Wilson has 15 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown. According to Pro Football Focus, Surtain has allowed six catches and 63 yards.
