The New York Jets' defense will be without its starting slot cornerback on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills, but its captain may be ready to return.
On Saturday afternoon, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich ruled out Michael Carter II, who is dealing with a back injury. Carter lasted only one snap before leaving the Week 5 game in London.
"Michael Carter, with the back, did not participate, obviously. He'll be out for the game," said Ulbrich.
Meanwhile, veteran linebacker CJ Mosley practiced in a limited capacity for the third day in a row as the defensive captain works his way back from a toe issue that popped up in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. The battle-tested tackling machine has missed three consecutive games.
"He's had a really good week, so we steadily have just progressed him as far as the reps that he takes at practice. He's felt the best he's felt in a while this week, so we're hopeful," said Ulbrich.
Mosley is one of two Jets' players officially listed as questionable on Saturday's injury report. Starting tight end Tyler Conklin, who has been limited due to a hip, is also questionable for Monday night's AFC East tussle at MetLife Stadium.
The good news for the Jets is that quarterback Aaron Rodgers finished the week as a full participant and does not carry an injury status heading into the October 14 primetime affair. Right tackle Morgan Moses, who has missed back-to-back games, appears poised to return from his knee injury.
