Jets Make Major Announcement on Breece Hall

It doesn't look like the New York Jets are going to be shipping out Breece Hall anytime soon.

When the New York Jets first drafted Breece Hall early in the second round of the 2022 draft, the regime believed he could be the kind of feature back that they had been searching for over the last few years.

That regime is no longer here. But that doesn't mean the Jets are going to be giving up on Hall just yet, either.

Speaking to reporters after night one of the 2025 draft, general manager Darren Mougey made it clear that the team was not looking into any trade conversations for the veteran.

“I haven’t had any talks with any teams about Breece Hall. He’s on the team,” Mougey said

Mougey’s public comments differ from what reports around the league have said regarding Hall. Senior NFL insider Josina Anderson was one of the reporters who stated that the team had shopped Hall around in trade talks over the last few weeks.

Hall has seen his per-carry average decrease every year since his rookie season. While he finished fourth in the league in total yards from scrimmage during the 2023 season, he struggled mightily last year.

Hall is entering the final year of his rookie deal with the Jets. There's a good chance his future with the team will be clouded - whether during the draft, or later in the season.

But coming off a down year, Hall's value is as low as it has ever been. It makes no sense for the Jets to move on from a player of low value simply because he was a good player once.

Patience, in the case of the Jets, is the best course of action here.
