The Aaron Rodgers era may have ended badly for the New York Jets. But star running back Breece Hall swears there are no hard feelings.
Hall shared his true thoughts about playing with Rodgers at Fanatics Fest in New York, appearing on “The Get Got” podcast with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson, where he said he and Rodgers are still tight.
Of course, Rodgers spent one season plus four snaps with the Jets, going 5-12 in his lone season as their starter. He signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he is slated to be the their starting quarterback this year.
What Did Breece Hall Say About Playing With Aaron Rodgers?
The Rodgers era in New York started with championship expectations and ended far short of that, with the Jets experiencing the Rodgers ride in 2024 .
But Hall had nothing bad to say about his now-former teammate.
“I love Aaron,” Hall said. “Me and him still have a great relationship to this day. That’s my guy.”
Hall said that Rodgers, now-41 years old, is a “very misunderstood person” by the public.
“Once you really get to know him, you realize how good of a person he is,” Hall said.
He also feels that he and Rodgers — and the rest of the high-profile Jets players like Garrett Wilson, Ahmad Gardner, Quinnen Williams and Quincy Williams — were scapegoated for the team’s lack of success in 2024 for the lack of organizational structure.
“When you’re losing games, the blame gets put on the faces of the team,” Hall said. “It just so happened to guys like be me, Sauce, Garrett, Aaron, Quinnen and Quincy.”
Head Robert Saleh was fired midseason — with the team sitting at 2-3 — and replaced by Jeff Ulbrich. Hall believes decisions like that had an impact on the team’s on-field success, larger than just replacing Saleh with a rookie, interim coach.
“What people don’t realize is when stuff is crazy organizationally, then it’s hard for the players to have stability and win games,” Hall said. “When you’re stressed out mentally, physically and emotionally, it’s hard to show up every Sunday, every Monday, every Thursday.”
But Hall feels the team is in good hands with coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey.
“I feel like now, with our new coaching staff and GM, we have a lot of stability,” Hall said. “They’re doing a good job of creating the culture and leading the way for us.”
What Did Breece Hall Say About Justin Fields Playing Jets Quarterback in 2025?
With Hall and now Fields at quarterback, the Jets effectively have multiple players with huge-play potential.
“Having a running quarterback, we’re always looking to make big plays,” Hall said. “It takes some pressure off of me. It creates an extra run lane, makes them play a step slower, so it’s been good.”
Though Fields will be more inclined to keep the ball in run-pass options — certainly than Rodgers was — Hall still made sure to lobby for his carries.
“Don’t get too comfortable [running the ball],” Hall said. “I still need that rock.”
