Six teams in the NFL are looking for a new head coach, and Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has interviews scheduled with five of them. Even though the first round of interviews are just getting underway, it sounds like two teams could end up engaging in a battle for the popular head coach candidate.
The only team to not set up an interview with Glenn was the New England Patriots, as they had their request declined on Friday. While each team is still in the process of getting to know their respective candidates, some favorites are beginning to emerge for the top guys available.
With so many teams in on Glenn, though, it's made it tough to predict where he will end up. A recent report came out indicating that the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints are leading the pack in his pursuit, and that they could end up "battling it out" in an effort to land the Lions defensive coordinator.
"There’s one league source I talk to who entering this week said they feel the Saints and Jets are going to end up battling it out over Lions DC Aaron Glenn," Josina Anderson reported on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Both the Jets and Saints make sense as potential landing spots for Glenn. A defense-first coach, New York and New Orleans were among the worst defensive teams in the league this year, with the Jets in particular falling apart on that side of the ball after they fired Robert Saleh early in the season.
Glenn has never backed away from a challenge, and it's clear overhauling both of these teams is going to take some time. It's still in both teams' respective head coach searches, but with Glenn being a highly desirable candidate, it looks like the Jets and Saints may end up duking it out for his services.
