At the start of this season, the New York Jets were all in. They wanted to win the Super Bowl with a healthy Aaron Rodgers behind center and went all out in getting hold of prime veterans to bolster their young squad. One of the prime stars they went out to get was pass rusher Haason Reddick .
Haason Reddick‘s career with the Jets did not start off on the right foot. He held out for a better contract longer than what players usually do. He even went to Japan and took shots at his new team for failing to live up on their promises.
It even left owner Woody Johnson baffled by the length of his holdout. However, both sides eventually settled on a revised contract. That contract though had a few clauses added for him to recover the money lost to fines during that holdout.
With one game left in the season, the New York Jets have become the laughingstock of the league. But Reddick will likely laugh his way to the bank as ESPN’s Rich Cimini revealed. The reporter exclusively covering the Jets said this while on his podcast, Flight Deck with Rich Cimini.
He’s gonna hit his playing time incentive. So, he’s gonna make $9.5 million this year.

The journalist added that what makes it bizarre is that Haason Reddick will earn that $9.5 million despite not registering a full sack all season. However, that money will help him recover the amount he lost in holdout fines.
Jeff Ulbrich defended Haason Reddick’s lack of production
Haason Reddick was brought in with the expectation that he will lead the New York Jets defense in sacks. But after registering 0.5 sacks out of nine games, reporters had to ask interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich questions about his lack of productivity.
There was an element of getting accustomed to what we do, and we didn’t have a training camp to do that and a preseason to get that accomplished. We were behind from the jump. He’s one of the most unselfish players I’ve been around.

Ulbrich’s words suggest the star player could not do much as he did not have a training camp to adjust to their game. In addition to that he was not in shape, which again was a result of not being a part of preseason training.
