JJ Watt Gets Real About Justin Fields After Steelers Benching

JJ Watt didn't hold back when talking about Justin Fields following being benched by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It's known that having two starting quarterbacks means that a football team has no starting quarterback. The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently finding themselves in that situation.

After a 4-2 start to the season, Justin Fields is returning to the sidelines in favor of Russell Wilson, in a move that has drawn quite a strong social media reaction.

This offseason, the Steelers took a flyer by signing Wilson after a rough stint with the Denver Broncos. Since his prime with the Seattle Seahawks, his game has slowly declined.

Pittsburgh signed the Super Bowl-winning quarterback to a cheap deal to try and get a short-term quarterback fix. They were also able to trade for Fields for a low price, benefitting from the Chicago Bears making Caleb Williams their franchise quarterback.

The Steelers' quarterback position was a hot topic leading into the season, but it seemed as if Fields had done enough to keep his job after winning four of his first six games of the regular season.

Wilson must have impressed at practice, or the team must feel as if the offense will look better with the veteran under center as Fields heads to the bench. After the news, Fields took the benching quite well.

"I don't think I played good enough, if I'm being real with you. If I'm being real myself, I think if I did play well enough, I don't think there would be any sort of, who should be playing, who should not," Fields said.

If fans weren't already supporting the Ohio State product, they are now. JJ Watt -- an NFL legend who had two incredible stints with the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals -- is one major name publicly supporting Fields.

"Man, what an answer from a guy who is 4-2 and gave them a legitimate chance to be 5-1 right now," Watt said after Fields' comments. "Poise, maturity, class. Hard to not be a fan."If the Steelers take an offensive dip with Wilson under center, expect Fields to return to the starting lineup with a chance to win over even more fans and continue winning football games in Pittsburgh.
