The New York Jets have reloaded, with Aaron Rodgers returning from his Achilles injury, as the franchise looks to finally return to the postseason.
With so many new faces coming in, especially along the offensive line to protect Rodgers, the Jets, on both sides of the ball, appear to have all the pieces to make a genuine playoff push and potentially make a Super Bowl.
Taking on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, the Jets have a tough task right out of the gate, and ESPN broadcaster Joe Buck, who was a guest on The Official Jets podcast, says the team is built to win now.
"It's a great matchup," Buck said. "Everything's built for the Jets. We always say this team is built to win now. To me, this Jets team is built to win right now. Like now. It's not like a year, two years with the guys they brought in on the offensive line, with Aaron [Rodgers] being 40 years old, he's going to be 41 later in the year. They were within a whisker of winning the whole thing in the Super Bowl and there's no reason why if they're healthy they can't be right back there again this year."
Buck isn't wrong. The Jets have made several moves this offseason to give them the best chance at glory in 2024.
While there are some skeptics, given that several aging players in Rodgers, Mike Williams and Tyron Smith, have had injury issues over the last 12 months, but if they can stay out of the medical room, New York is in business.
We will get a good indication of the Jets' playoff intentions against the 49ers. While it will only be one game, the season opener at that, the expectations will be for New York to put on a good show.
In a year when most expect the Jets to amount to something, with aging stars and time running out, Buck is right-New York is built to win now simply because it has to.
