Joey Bosa discusses future possibility of playing with brother, 49ers' Nick Bosa

Playing together would be a dream come true for the Bosa brothers. While Nick Bosa remains under contract with the San Francisco 49ers through 2028, Joey Bosa is only signed with the Los Angeles Chargers through 2025. The two brothers may be able to play together in 2026, assuming a trade doesn't unite them sooner, and they have discussed this possibility.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the Chargers pass rusher shared that he and Nick still have those conversations, wondering what the future might hold.

"It'd be cool at some point," Joey said, per ESPN's Kris Rhim. "I always thought of myself being somebody that will play here and retire here, which I think not many people do on one team and I think would be a cool thing to accomplish, but you never know. I'm going to worry about this year first."

Nick and Joey train together during the offseason before reporting to their respective offseason programs. In 2020, while rehabbing from a torn ACL, Nick stayed with his brother and their parents in the Los Angeles area. That time together led to conversations about one day playing together.

"Yeah, we spent every waking hour together the past six months, so obviously, we have conversations like that," Nick stated in October 2020.

Nick is coming off his third consecutive season of recording 10.5 or more sacks. He started all 17 games for the 49ers during his 2023 campaign, earning a 92.2 defensive grade and a 92.3 pass-rushing grade (including playoffs) from Pro Football Focus, both career highs.

Joey has appeared in only 14 games over the past two seasons. Despite his limited availability, he still managed to secure 6.5 sacks through nine games and five starts last season.
