After months of hemming and hawing, The Bachelor's Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson have picked a city to settle down in, but did they make the right choice? 28-year-old Joey and 26-year-old Kelsey have been through a lot of changes over the last few years, as well as their share of ups and downs. The journey began long before the couple even knew of each other's existence. It all started when Joey appeared as a contestant on Charity Lawson's season of The Bachelorette. Joey made it to the final two, but Charity gave her final rose to someone else.
Joey was devastated, but in hindsight, it would be the best thing that ever happened to the former tennis pro from Hawaii. He was cast as The Bachelor and introduced to 25-year-old Kelsey, who was one of the 32 single women vying for Joey's heart. After a season of falling in love, Joey gives Kelsey his final rose, and the two get engaged. Since then, their lives have changed completely, and they've been trying to decide where they'd settle down. They recently announced they'd chosen a city to live in, but time will tell if they made the right choice.
Before being cast in The Bachelor season 28, Joey lived in Hawaii but gave up his apartment when he left to film Charity's season of The Bachelorette. After his elimination, Joey didn't want to sign a new lease since he knew he'd be off filming The Bachelor. He decided to stay with his sister in the interim, knowing he'd have plenty of time to figure it out after his season. That's how he found himself without a place to live after cameras stopped rolling on his season of The Bachelor.
For her part, Kelsey lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, before being on The Bachelor. The former junior project manager shared a rental with several female roommates. After she and Joey got engaged, they wanted to live together right away, so they both moved into Kelsey's old place, alongside her multiple female roommates. The couple was traveling a lot at the time, so the set-up worked for them. It was never supposed to be a long-term solution, and the couple were already talking about potential cities to live in when Joey got a job opportunity that changed everything.
Joey's been awash in career opportunities since appearing on The Bachelor season 28, but none as impressive as joining the cast of Dancing With The Stars season 33. The dance competition films in Los Angeles, California, so Joey had to move there, and Kelsey moved there with him. She's been by his side the whole time, rooting for him in the audience. Joey thrived on the show, and he and his professional dance partner, Jenna Johnson, made it into the show's finals.
Joey and Jenna could win the highly coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
Dancing With The Stars doesn't hand out a cash prize, and winners don't get anything other than the iconic trophy, but they do pay their celebrities a salary. Before joining DWTS, Joey and Kelsey were busy growing their blossoming careers as lifestyle influencers. Joey currently has 380K followers on TikTok and 917K followers on Instagram, while Kelsey boasts 789K Instagram followers and 603K followers on TikTok. A clip posted to YouTube by Dancing With The Stars shows Joey and Jenna dancing up a storm.
While negotiating his contract with DWTS producers, Joey had a very odd request.
In an interview with The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast, Joey confessed he asked to be partnered with a dancer who was “in a successful and healthy relationship.” Joey was paired with Jenna, who was married to fellow dancer, Val Chmerkovskiy, for 10 years. Joey's strange request could suggest there was an existing issue with jealousy in his relationship, which isn't a great sign. His demand makes it sound like Joey was worried about Kelsey being jealous, suggesting she didn't trust him.
Before moving to Los Angeles for Dancing With The Stars season 33, Joey and Kelsey went back and forth about where they wanted to live. Kelsey had always wanted to live in New York City, where she could pursue her modeling career. For his part, Joey wanted a lifestyle that involved being outdoors a lot, like he had when he lived in Hawaii. For a while, it seemed like The Bachelor season 28 couple decided to move to the Big Apple, but the engaged couple changed their minds after living in Los Angeles for a few months.
Joey recently appeared on the Lightweights with Joe Vulpis podcast on YouTube, where he revealed he and Kelsey had decided to stay in Los Angeles. It's a little strange that Kelsey wasn't there with him, and it's unclear if she was upset by his big public revelation about their living arrangement. In the end, it's clear Joey got his way, and Kelsey's dream of living in the Big Apple was put on the back burner. At least the young couple won't have to keep living with Kelsey's roommates.
Los Angeles may seem inviting to the young couple now, but they may come to regret their decision.
Los Angeles is a city with a lot going for it, but there are also significant downsides. For one thing, many former Bachelor Nations contestants live in Los Angeles, so Joey and Kelsey will be part of a big social network. Though that may seem like a good thing, it can also lead to conflict and drama. On the plus side, since The Bachelor is filmed in Los Angeles, there's something lovely about Joey and Kelsey wanting to live where they first met.
