Jordan Davis already proving he's poised for a breakout 2025 season with Eagles

It was far from a tough decision for Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles when it came time to pick up defensive tackle Jordan Davis' fifth-year option, despite his slow start adjusting to the next level.

“We forget players still develop,” Roseman said to 94WIP right after locking in Davis through 2026. “When you look at the history of defensive tackles in the National Football League, you see a lot of really successful guys that people forget took until Year 3 or 4 to really hit their stride. And we think he is just hitting his stride.

“This guy is going to play really good football for us here. He is an unbelievable person, worker, and leader. I think the sky is the limit for him. I think he feels it, and he’s got tremendous confidence, and I’m excited for our fans to understand why we thought it was a really easy decision for us to pick up the option.”

While Davis hasn't posted eye-popping stats over his first three seasons in Philly, his impact has not gone unnoticed.

He recorded only one sack during the 2024 regular season, but added two more in the playoffs, including a key takedown during the Eagles’ 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Over three years so far (including playoffs), Davis has racked up 102 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 31 quarterback pressures, 10 quarterback hits, and 5.5 sacks.

He enters the 2025 season with a much slimmer frame after working hard and shedding 26 pounds (356lbs to 330lbs) this past spring.

According to Davis, he feels the same, just a lot quicker, which can only mean that he's poised for a breakout Year 4.

“I’m still that Jordan Davis,” Davis told reporters during NFL training camp. “I’m still gonna be that anchor. I’m still gonna be that same player. But knowing that with this new weight, I can do a lot more. I can move a lot more on passing reps. I’m gonna be expected to add that. And that’s just what’s been communicated with me from the top down. And honestly, I’m here for it. I’m ready for it. I’m just ready to go.”
