Jordan Love Breaks Silence On What Waiting For His Contract Was Like

Green Bay Packers opted to extend Jordan Love after watching him mature behind Aaron Rodgers for three years, and having an incredible first season under center.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jordan Love has signed a four-year, $220M contract extension with the Packers, becoming the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history.

The signing bonus will also be $75 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Love was a “hold in” over the last week at practice. He knew the Packers and the NFL world had been waiting on the extension to get done.  Today he talked about what that was like.

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Comments On Waiting For His Contract

It’s been a waiting game these last couple days.  Just trying to be patient, but knowing it was going to get done soon.

Right after it got done my agent Facetimed me and broke the news.  It was a very special day.  The emotions of not only the contract but being able to be here (Green Bay) and get back on the field with the guys.

I wasn’t very close to the contract situation (negotiations).  In my world I just try to let them handle it.  Obviously there’s so much back and forth that goes on I don’t really want to get carried away with the different things that go back and forth.

I’ll try to just focus on football and let my agents handle that.  I think they (agents) do a great job, I think Russ and the Packers do a great job of what they do.  They would give me updates here and there.

The four-year extension will keep Love under contract with the Packers through 2028.

On April 23, 2020, the Packers selected Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. 1,556 days later, Love is the highest paying player in football and the Packers’ franchise quarterback for years to come.
