Jordan Love Named NFC’s Top Quarterback According to ESPN Insider

The Green Bay Packers knew what they had when they drafted Jordan Love in 2020. They took a risk by selecting him in the first round, but everything paid off as Aaron Rodgers successor.

This ESPN Insider Calls Jordan Love the NFC's Best Quarterback

After just two years as a starter, this ESPN Insider believes he’s the best quarterback in the NFC. With quality names below him, it didn’t take long for Love to pass up established names and a Super Bowl winning QB.

Mike Tannenbaum Calls Jordan Love the NFC’s Best QB

Having played two less games last season, Tannenbaum still believes that Love has done enough to prove himself. With 3,389 passing yards last season, Love sits well below the rest of the quarterbacks making his rankings. It may not be a common pick, but ESPN’s analyst has Love above Jayden Daniels, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, and Baker Mayfield.

“Jordan Love has all the ability in the world,” Tannenbaum said. “We talked about him over the last couple of days. Matthew Golden will now be a No. 1. You’re going to take a good offense and make it great.”

In response to his rankings, Ryan Clark needed more clarification. The Super Bowl Champion asked, “I am a Jordan Love fan, so I do not want the world to take it that I do not Love love, but how is Jordan Love number one?”

Tannenbaum wasted no time responding, “If we have to go out and play a game right now today, he’s the guy that’ll be under center for me. He has the most ability, and to me he has the most upside. So we’re going to win for today, and we’re going to keep developing for tomorrow.”

“He had 11 interceptions last season. If you take away three or four of those throws, which were made because he has supreme confidence, he has more ability and talent than anyone else,” he added. “Who would you put above him?”

“Everybody else on the list,” Clark proclaimed.

Tannenbaum Justifies His Top 5 List

Looking at the other names included, it’s bold to put a second-year player as a Top 2 quarterback. His decision can’t be questioned as he has a third-year starter at No. 1, with Love and Daniels having far less experience than the rest of the names on the list.

“Jayden Daniels is on the verge of being a superstar in the NFL. I’m assuming Terry McLaurin will be there at some point,” Tannenbaum said.

Terry McLaurin joining camp would be a huge boost for Daniels. Without him, he’s losing his leading receiver, one that has five straight 1,000+ yard seasons.

“Jared Goff, we have to give him his due. Still great led by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta. That offense will still be good,” he mentioned.

The Detroit Lions have their work cut out for them this season after losing both of their coordinators. After Jared Goff’s horrendous performance against Daniels in the playoffs, he’s looking for revenge.

“And then the Super Bowl Champ, Jalen Hurts. He’s someone that’s beaten Patrick Mahomes and outplayed him in two of the last three Super Bowls,” Tannenbaum said.

Hurts has widely been kept low on quarterback ranking. He has a phenomenal team around him, but no one seems to think he’s a top QB in the league.

“As much as we like Baker Mayfield, he’s only the fifth best NFC quarterback,” he added. Mayfield just had his contract restructured with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, giving him more guaranteed money for 2026.
