Of all the ways a quarterback can praise a wide receiver based on his style of play, this one will certainly be at the least frequent ones. During the week, Jordan Love was on The Up and Adams Show, and they were talking about flag football in the Olympic Games.
Kay Adams asked Love what wide receiver of the Green Bay Packers would be a great addition to the American team in the 2028 Olympics, so Love shared an interesting perspective about Dontayvion Wicks, who's entering his third season in the NFL.
"Best at flag football in the Olympic team? I would say Wicks, Wicks would be the one to go out there and be able," Love said.
Love's perception is based on some characteristics in Wicks' game that are also extremely helpful for the Packers.
"I think flag football is all about having that shakiness ability, to be able to shake people off, make sure they don't grab your flag," Love added. "With his ability to get in and out, he'll route some people up and then he'll get out there and make you miss. I think he's got that ability, he'd kill it in flag football."
Throughout his first two seasons in the NFL, Dontayvion Wicks has been one of the best separators in all of football. However, drops hindered his productivity last season. He had eight drops, a 17% drop rate in 2024. The good news for him and the Packers is that drops don't tend to be sustainable, for better or worse. As a rookie, Wicks had only two drops, a 4.9% drop rate.
With his ability to create separation, and if he's able to limit mistakes, Wicks can once again be a real contributor and a big part of the Packers' offensive plan week in and week out—especially while Christian Watson is out with a knee injury.
In his first two years in the league, the former fifth-round pick had 78 catches for 996 yards and nine receiving touchdowns.
