Jordan Love remembers exactly what it feels like. Earlier this year, in January, he watched the San Francisco 49ers celebrate their NFC divisional playoff win over his Green Bay Packers.
It was a close contest, and the Packers were a very young team that many didn't expect to be a playoff contender, but the 24-21 loss stung pretty bad for those young Packers. It especially stung for Love, who threw two interceptions, including one that sealed the loss with 52 seconds left.
The Packers have a chance in Week 12 to start writing those wrongs against the 49ers when Kyle Shanahan and crew invade Lambeau Field on Sunday. That's a loss that Love says the Packers have been thinking about for all of 2024.
"I think just ending the season, getting into the playoffs and being knocked out by the 49ers — whoever it would have been — that game is definitely going to sit with you. That's what you've got to kind of just sit with all offseason, is going back, watching that game, trying to see what you could have done better, could have done differently in that game," Love explained to the media on Wednesday, according to ESPN. "It definitely sits with you through the offseason, and then you obviously move on. Just knowing that that's the team that knocked us out, we're definitely hungry for this game."
If Love is truly hungry to win this game, he'll have to focus on finally limiting the interceptions this season. As it turns out, those two against the 49ers were precursors for 2024. He's thrown 11 interceptions compared to 16 touchdowns. He's tied for the most interceptions in the NFL despite playing in two less game than Patrick Mahomes and Geno Smith.
Despite all the picks this season, Love said he's trying to use the lessons learned from that playoff loss against the 49ers to help him in this one.
"Obviously, two turnovers in that game, critical mistakes, the final two-minute drive situation to go win, and having a turnover," Love said, listing his mistakes from that game. "So just learning from that situation, put myself back in that situation, what would I have done differently? How do I grow from that? Things like that."
