Jordan Love Sounds Off on Potential Green Bay Packers Contract Extension

Jordan Love is signed through the 2024 season, but, the Green Bay Packers quarterback could be in line for a contract that comes close to potentially resetting the market at the position before the upcoming campaign kicks off.

Love guided the Packers to the NFC Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs last season, his first as Green Bay’s starting quarterback, and is a major source behind the optimism that the franchise can make a legitimate run at the Super Bowl in 2024.

During a recent appearance for Bleacher Report, Love opened up about what signing a deal with the Packers would mean to him.

“That would mean a lot to me,” Love explained. “That would be awesome. To be able to sign an extension, with the team that drafted you, is something I feel all players dream of. To be able to stay in that same situation, stay with the same team, the organization that believed in you from Day 1, so, I’m definitely looking forward to that.

“Hopefully that happens here in the future. I’m very excited for the upcoming season, what’s in store for our team, and to be able to solidify something long-term in Green Bay.”

The Packers have built an exciting and gifted young core around Love, who completed 64.2 percent of his passes last season for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

What is Jordan Love’s Contract Value for Green Bay Packers?

Love turned out to be one of the biggest values at quarterback across the league last season, playing out the season on a one-year contract extension worth $13.5 million.

As the calendar turns to 2024, there’s a belief inside the NFL that Love could fetch upwards of $50 million, annually, from the Packers on his new deal.

“He’s easily shown the most improvement of any quarterback in his draft class,” an NFC Personnel Executive told me recently, on the condition of anonymity to speak freely about a player on another team.

Meanwhile, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suggests that there shouldn’t be a rush when it comes to the timing of Love’s extension, even if the two sides aren’t able to reach an agreement before Packers training camp gets underway this month.

“I don’t think it’s a huge worry,” Romo said of whether Love’s extension is done before camp opens, during an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I think he knows he’s going to be signed. What you do as a quarterback is you let your agent talk. They kind of get through it. If he signs it before the season, great. But your job as an organization is ‘we’re going to get this signed. You know that, we know that, don’t worry about it.’ Everyone talks about ‘well, what happens if you get injured?’ And so teams usually sell you on that a little bit like, ‘well, in case of injury.’

“The truth is a quarterback of that nature, even if he did have an injury it would not change signing him to almost the exact same deal. You would just be very disappointed. I think for him, like anybody, it’s gonna happen, don’t worry about it, put your mind at ease.”
