Running back Josh Jacobs had been a fan favorite since the Oakland Raiders drafted him in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He made an instant impact and carried the team through their transition to Las Vegas, but he left the organization just a year removed from leading the league in rushing. Earlier this week, however, he was a guest star on a Youtube stream produced by ZIAS! and revealed that his most underrated teammate was one he had with the Raiders.
"The most underrated (player) I played with ... (the one) that shocked me the most, especially on a day-to-day basis, was Jakobi Meyers," said Jacobs. "Bro, he like that. He had no drops last year. You see him at practice, he do the grunt work, he don't complain."
Jakobi Meyers joined the Las Vegas Raiders before the 2023 NFL season as the team's projected No. 2 wide receiver next to star Davante Adams. However, Meyers actually tied for most receiving touchdowns on the team with eight, and he had 71 catches for 807 yards in his first year with the team.
Jacobs left in free agency following that season, and Adams was traded halfway through the next year, so Meyers really exploded onto the scene in 2024. He caught 87 passes last season for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns, which was by far the most of any other wide receiver on the roster.
Although the two played together for just one season, Meyers has seemingly earned the respect of Jacobs, who is one of the best running backs in the league. Meyers should see an increase in production once again this season with a competent quarterback, Geno Smith.
