There were a lot of questions surrounding what kind of player the Philadelphia Eagles would be getting in edge rusher Josh Uche when they signed him in the offseason.

So far through training camp, they appear to be getting a monster off the edge, as he has gained a lot of attention from the Eagles media. He's put himself in a position where he has been outperforming his fellow new edge rusher Azeez Ojulari.

Uche spoke with the media to discuss the factors that have contributed to his recent success at camp. He credits his former head coach, Bill Belichick, for helping him out.

"That year where I had 12 sacks, everyone was healthy," Uche said via Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports. "Playing under Coach Belichick had a huge role in it, to be honest. That was part of it. My first year that was hampered by injuries, second year three sacks (in) first two games then ankle sprain or whatever, then my third year happened, and after that we were hampered by...

"I can make all the excuses in the world. At the end of the day, you gotta play the cards you're dealt. That year, the stars aligned, and after that life happens."

Uche did have a memorable 2022 season with the New England Patriots, where he recorded 11.5 sacks, the only year he has achieved double-digit sacks. He spent his first four and a half years with New England before the team traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs last year, but he only produced 10 tackles in six games.

With Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, and Bryce Huff all gone from the team in the offseason, Nolan Smith Jr. and Jalyx Hunt are expected to step up in the starting lineup. Uche and Ojulari are looked at as the veteran backups who can help off the edge.

Uche has been making waves at training camp so far and in a position to be heavily in the rotation in 2025. He credits being able to work with another future hall of famer in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

"They're both Hall of Famers in their own respective right. Defensive geniuses," Uche said via CBS Sports. "I wouldn't be doing anyone any justice comparing them -- they're both legends.

"But Vic, the wrinkles he has in his defense is beautiful and Coach Belichick had his own wrinkles that were beautiful as well. ... Each artist has their own unique style."

Uche has a chance to showcase his skills during the preseason and give Eagles fans a reason to be excited about him. With reports of him bulldozing linemen at camp, it's safe to say he's going to be good
