Julian Edelman gets brutally honest about Steelers' Super Bowl odds with Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is now a Pittsburgh Steeler — but that does little for their Super Bowl hopes, argues former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman.

Steelers won't win a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers, per Julian Edelman

On a recent episode of The Herd, Edelman explained to the famously outspoken Colin Cowherd that — while he likes the arrival of Rodgers in Pittsburgh — the move doesn't take the Steelers anywhere near Super Bowl contention status:

"I think they’ll be a little better than last year," Edelman said. "Do I think they’re gonna win a Super Bowl? No. I love Mike Tomlin, I love the culture, I love the defense, I like Arthur Smith. But how fast can they get that machine going? Aaron doesn't know his teammates at all yet. Once again, he's going into another year behind.

"…I like the move. It’s the best thing for the Steelers right now. And Aaron, he's going to a team that's not terrible. If he wants to continue his football career, that's awesome. He gets the opportunity to do it at one of the pillars of the National Football League — but do I think they're going to win a Super Bowl? No, I don't."

The former Patriots wideout continued to dismiss the Steelers' Super Bowl aspirations, pointing to the departure of Najee Harris and poor offensive line play as further evidence to support his argument.

Edelman, a three-time Super Bowl champion, knows exactly what it takes to compete for Lombardis — but it’s almost as if he’s picking a side in an argument no one was having, as the Steelers would be thrilled just to win a playoff game under Rodgers.
