Pedro Pascal is one of today's most in-demand actors, and his rise in popularity stems largely from his acclaimed performance as Joel Miller in HBO's The Last of Us. The first season also featured Nico Parker in a key role as Joel's daughter, Sarah.
At the BAFTA TV Awards, Parker was nominated for Supporting Actress with her role as Sarah in The Last of Us. On the red carpet, she spoke about her nomination with Deadline, sharing how grateful she felt just to be in such good company with her nominees along with her co-stars of The Last of Us. She then shared how fun it was to work with Pascal on the series, even if he was a bit of a "jokester" on the set.
"I feel amazing," Parker explained. "I'm in such a brilliant cast with such incredible actors, so I'm just, like... it feels surreal for my name to be anywhere within the midst of them, so I'm just very, very grateful. Very thankful."
"He's so brilliant, and so talented, but also, off-screen, he's just the loveliest guy."
"All of it," she responded when asked about the best part of working with Pascal. "He's so funny. He really does make every day an experience in its own special way. He really is one of my best friends. He's so brilliant, and so talented, but also, off-screen, he's just the loveliest guy."
When asked if Pascal was an on-set prankster, Parker added, "He's more of a jokester. He just pokes at you all day until you're like, 'Pedro!' And then he just finds it so funny when you get angry."
Parker previously appeared in the films Dumbo and Reminiscence. More recently, she had a starring role in the Hulu film Suncoast, which earned her the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Sundance Film Festival. She's also been cast in a starring role for the upcoming live-action remake of How to Train your Dragon, which is currently filming for a planned release in June 2025.
The Last of Us Season 2 Is in Production
The second season of The Last of Us is currently in the works as well. Given Sarah's death in Season 1, it's not expected that Parker will be featured in Season 2. With the second season now filming, it is planned for a release on HBO sometime in 2025, though a return date has not yet been announced.
