The New York Jets take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. Who should be warned about Justin Fields?

The Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback situation continues to be murky deep into the NFL offseason. Pittsburgh has been dragged along by former New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who may or may not sign with the Black and Gold.

If Rodgers in the end abandons the Steelers, it seems likely that Mason Rudolph will be taking snaps under center as the starter.

This is in stark contrast to last season, where the Steelers had both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, who both had relative success in their respective stints as the starter. The Steelers haven't won a playoff game in eight years, and are still searching for the quarterback that can do it.

With the 2025 NFL schedule being released on Wednesday night, the Steelers learned that their first opponent of the season would be the Jets, Fields' first game against his old squad; the one that benched him for Russell Wilson despite a winning record.

If Rodgers ends up becoming the quarterback for Pittsburgh, it'd be quite the matchup ... the two quarterbacks going against their former teams who each felt scorned them.

On Friday, former Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa explained how Fields and the Jets were going to come into Week 1 with a chip on their shoulders.

"I don't think there's any animosity for [Justin Fields] against the Steelers," Enunwa said. "But I know from what he's spoken about, they didn't let him be his best self at quarterback, right? There was a little bit of they didn't have confidence in him to be the starter. They didn't give him the reins to just go ahead and do everything he wanted to do."

Enunwa continued, referencing new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn, who may finally be the one to truly unlock Fields' potential at quarterback.

"So I think he wants to go out there and show like, 'This is what I'm capable of.' One thing I like about [Aaron Glenn] is that he's putting a lot of confidence in his coaches, so we're going to see, hopefully, the best version of him because they're going to coach him hard."
