Justin Jefferson Has Stern Directions For Vikings Teammates After Division Loss To Lions

The Vikings' superstar wide receiver made his thoughts on what the Vikings must do very clear.

The Minnesota Vikings lost a nail biter to the Detroit Lions at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. this past Sunday in a game that had a little bit of everything, including plenty of drama down the stretch.

Vikings superstar wideout Justin Jefferson and his teammates watched helplessly as Lions kicker Jake Bates nailed a game winning field goal to help Detroit seize first place in the NFC North on the strength of a 31-29 road victory.

Afterward, Jefferson shared his thoughts on what the Vikings must do moving forward to prevent another poor outcome from happening again.

He said that he and his previously undefeated Vikings teammates knew what they were getting themselves into, and they have to be better in certain key areas.

"We knew coming into this game that it was going to be a battle, wasn't going to be an easy cakewalk," Jefferson said. "But we definitely hurt ourselves in plenty of ways that y'all probably can't see.

"But there on that field, we missed plenty of opportunities. We just have to be better, especially all the flags we had. We just have to be better all around."

Minnesota outscored Detroit 12-3 in the fourth quarter, seizing a 29-28 lead on the back of Ivan Pace, Jr.,, who returned a fumble 36 yards for the go-ahead score.

That outcome led to a missed two-point conversion attempt on a Sam Darnold pass that gave Detroit a chance to cement their big victory on a Bates 44-yard field goal with 15 seconds left.

"Getting the two-point conversion toward the end of the game, that would've helped tremendously," Jefferson said. "Getting that third down toward the end of the game would've helped.

"Just plays being left out there on the field. But it's no single person's fault. We all have to be dialed in as a whole entire team."
