Justin Reid Reveals Unfiltered Thoughts About Chiefs

Each of the last three Kansas City Chiefs seasons ended on Super Bowl Sunday. Fans may still be nursing some fresh wounds from the most recent result though that loss was preceded by two remarkable triumphs.

Of course Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Andy Reid deserve a load of credit for that run. But that success could not have been achieved without the ancillary pieces including safety Justin Reid.

Reid came to the Chiefs in the same stretch of this recent title run, having a winning impact on these championship teams. The unfortunate dark side of the team's success was the expense of keeping everyone around.

Kansas City and Reid ultimately chose to go in different directions after Reid signed with the New Orleans Saints in the offseason. But that has not changed the love Reid has for his former city.

"Kansas City is a part of me. I love Kansas City, and I feel like Kansas City loves me back," Reid told reporters at an event for his JReid Indeed Foundation. "I didn't know how much I would love it before coming here, but since I've been here the last three years and the way that the community has embraced me and I've embraced the community."

"I want to stay here and have a piece of me and a part for the rest of my life. I love it here that much that I'm really motivated to continue to do advancements, and continue to have my foundation operate here."

Reid will play an integral role on the Saints defense next season, bringing a bevy of big-game and championship experience. Conversely, the Chiefs will rely on the young Jaden Hicks to translate the mentorship from Reid into a bigger role moving forward.

Nonetheless, Reid's testimony demonstrates the lasting bonds formed the players and the community within Chiefs Kingdom.
