Kansas City Chiefs and familiar foe named most likely to play in Super Bowl LIX

As the NFL Wild Card Round kicks off this weekend, Kansas City Chiefs fans have every reason to feel optimistic about their team’s pursuit of a historic third consecutive Super Bowl title.

With home-field advantage secured, the AFC powerhouse will take the field in the Divisional Round after a well-earned first-round bye. If the vibes aren’t already on Kansas City’s side, the numbers certainly are. According to BetVictor Canada’s advanced "supercomputer," the Chiefs are favorites to emerge from the AFC field and face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

The supercomputer’s predictions are based on analysis of the 2024 regular season, weighing each team's win-loss records, winning streaks, strength of schedule, and roster's playoff experience. The Chiefs lead the pack with a 30 percent likelihood of reaching the Super Bowl.

Their closest AFC competitors, the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens, each have only a 15 percent chance. Fellow AFC West teams, the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos, have 8 percent and 5 percent chances, respectively.

Could the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles meet in the Super Bowl once again?

For Kansas City fans, the narrative is clear: the Chiefs remain a powerhouse. While the 2024 season may not have been flawless, the Chiefs still set a franchise record with 15 wins. They overcame plenty of doubters along the way and rose to the occasion more often than not. Their loss this season to the Bills adds intrigue to a potential playoff rematch, but history favors the Chiefs. Buffalo hasn’t beaten Kansas City in postseason action since 1994, despite three playoff meetings since 2021.

Head coach Andy Reid has become the NFL’s version of Batman—give him time to prepare, and he’ll find a way to defeat any opponent. Now, Reid has multiple weeks to strategize ahead of the divisional round.

On the NFC side, the Eagles are the most favored conference champions, with a 22 percent chance of reaching the Super Bowl. BetVictor Canada predicts the Eagles will edge out the fan-favorite Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game, setting up a highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs. Eagles fans are still haunted by their loss in Super Bowl LVII, but Kansas City has every reason to feel confident heading into a potential showdown with Philadelphia.

BetVictor Canada projects the Chiefs as 55 percent favorites to defeat the Eagles and hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy once again. While this prediction adds another layer of excitement for Chiefs fans, they should know the unpredictable nature of playoff football all too well. Anything can happen, as iconic moments like the "13 Seconds Game" remind fans. Shocking upsets and dramatic comebacks can reshape the postseason in a blink.

BetVictor spokesperson Sam Boswell captured the playoff anticipation perfectly: “With all 14 remaining teams still in contention, it’s going to be fascinating to see how the odds shift after this weekend’s Wild Card Round.”

For Chiefs Kingdom, the path to glory is set—but nothing is guaranteed. As fans watch this weekend's action, it will be easy to look forward to Kansas City's divisional opponent. But, no matter the team in the way, the Chiefs are a heavy favorite to see red and yellow confetti falling in New Orleans come February.
